Description of the place
The Natural Camí de la Muga was opened in 2012 under the management of the Regional Council of Alt Empordà. The problem has now been corrected and is included in the routes managed by the Girona Greenways consortium.
Take a trip through the municipalities of Castellón d’Empúries, Peralada, Cabanes, Pont de Molins, Boadella d’Empordà and Les Escaules, Terrades, Darnius and Sant Llorenç de la Muga.

The route is divided into two large separate sections due to their different characteristics: the greenway section and the connecting section – the Mountain.
This route is part of the Caminos Naturales network of the Spanish state, it is included in the “Programa de Caminos Naturales” developed since 1993 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Sands and Nutrition. Information about the Natural Paths program
Trail routes
The route is divided into two large, separate sections due to their different characteristics: the greenway section and the connecting section – Mountain. Description of the sections, from SEA to MOUNTAIN:
Camí Natural de La Muga (29 km): Start in Empuriabrava (TM Castelló d’Empúries) and finish in Les Escaules (TM Boadella). 18 km of isolated section (62%), accessible from all points for bikes, pedestrians and adapted bikes. Slopes from 0% to 8%. Universal surfaces, concrete and asphalt.
Mountain section (11.5 km): Starts in La Resclosa de Les Escaules and finishes in Sant Llorenç de la Muga (town). Start of the section of the trail bordering La Muga, suitable only for walking. You will then reach Boadella and follow the forest path that borders the Boadella swamp. This is not a greenway. It is an 8 km long section with slopes of over 12% and 3 km that can only be walked (physical obstacles: stairs, rocky areas, low bridges).
